One of my students, Laura Arciniega, has begun to blog on the persecuted church. Her blog is theunknownchurch. Go to her blog and encourage her. She is an excellent young lady with a heart for the persecuted followers of Christ around the world. Here is a brief interview with Laura and her com padre, Karina Cortez, concerning their blog.
How did you hear about the persecuted church?
Karina Cortes: I had always heard that there were people that were suffering for Christ, but I never really understood what that meant until the ISP simulation.
Arciniega: Jeff Lewis’ Intro to Global Studies class has really taught me a lot; I also knew that there were people suffering for Christ, but that knowledge had no effect on my life.
Can you explain the purpose and plan for your blog?
Karina: The purpose is for the blog is to inform the world on issues going on around the world and how are brothers and sisters are being persecuted for sharing the gospel.
Arciniega: We want to bring a lot of information from sources like Voice of the Martyrs, Compass Direct News, etc., to one place to make it easy for an interested Christian to learn about the persecuted church, just like you suggested.
Why do you think it is important that the American church learn about, pay attention to, and minister to and with the persecuted church?
Karina: Because they are family!!
Arciniega: God’s doing a lot of things with His people, much of it outside of the United States; shouldn’t we be interested in what He’s interested in?
