A colleague of mine sent me these. Some are humorous. All are accurate. Go to this link for the posters.

Interesting. You know, living overseas we have learned to refer to ourselves not as “christians” because of the baggage and the negative connotation it brings up. But, I am not so sure that the term Christian is safe even in America anymore because of all of the ridiculous nonsense that is referred to as Christianity. No wonder Jesus tells people that when some of them come to heaven they will be denied because he never knew them. WOW!!! There is lots of work to be done!! Better get crackin.

While all of the statements are accurate, most of them have a humorous bent until the very last poster. I never considered how similar the message of the postmodern and emergent churches is to that of the serpent until now.

I have to say, the one labeled “Empathy” really spoke to me. What hypocrites we are when we want our church’s music style, image, or whatever, to conform to one generation’s preference in spite of what the others may want.
There definitely are several facets to look at in that discussion. One of the most interesting, to me, is the issue of trying to find and express the diversity within the body of Christ. It seems like the easy way out to just go for an emergent church style or to simply stay in a 1950′s style of worship service, etc. Over the years I’ve found that it is often the more difficult road which is the right one to follow (“narrow road…wide road…” I think I might have heard that in some sermon on some mount somewheres along the way).

After reading most of these, I realized that my many of my less mature high school students currently think this way. God exists in the form I wish Him to, and the Bible only counts when it works to my advantage. It’s astounding to me that the emergent church leaders are basically what happens when those idiot, spoiled kids never really grow up and come to know Christ.
